| Re: Jimmie Johnson Sucks Thread The thing that kills me about Jimmie Johnson is that he came out of nowhere. Sure he drove in the SODA series or whatever it was called, but, last time I checked, that wasn't a hotbed for NASCAR talent. Jimmie didn't drive stock cars on dirt, nor did he drive sprints on dirt, or sprints period. He didn't start out in ARCA to gain experience, he did drive in ASA though, and if I remember right, he spun like 7 times in his first race. The only reason Jeff Gordon picked him for that 48 car was that he was from California, just like Jeff, and he sure as hell wasn't going to pick a driver for that car that was from NC or SC, or anywhere but California, and Jeff couldn't have picked him for his success in the BGN series, because he had none. He won 1 race, and that was due to the leader getting caught up in lap traffic on the last lap. Jimmie Johnson has talent, but he is in no way head and shoulders above anyone in the current cup field, its that he just has been givin a car that has all the information that the Hendrick team has learned over the past 10 years wth Jeff Gordon, legal and illegal, and they just dumped it all into that 48. Jimmie was a nobody when he was picked for that car, and other people even asked Jeff, ''You chose Jimmie who?'' But, as soon as that 48 car hit the track, it was a race winning machine. You could put anyone in that car....Joe Nemechek, Kyle Petty, Dale Jr, and they would all have a shot to win every race in which they ran. That car is that good, and Jimmie gets waaaayy too much credit for it. Jimmie never ran local short tracks to gain experience, he never had to slave around in the BGN series and ARCA series for years before his first real shot, but he got a shot anyway, and in the best possible situation in his first cup ride.......and now I hear where they are trying to sign him to a lifelong contract?? Give me a break, Jimmie doesn't know what its like to drive in bad cup equipment, apparently being from California means more to some people then actually paying there dues. |
