Okay let me give you the story that discredits Nascar even more than usual, last year Kevin Harvick Qualified without a full tank of gas was caught and Berrier(his crew chief) was fined and suspended for 4 races, Childress lost 25 owners points and Harvick lost 25 drivers points. No parts involved there. Na$car set a presidence but did not follow. I don't believe a word Na$car brass has to say.... I have more trust in the boy that cries wolf.

I thought that they had a "doctored" fuel cell in that instance.

It would be no different than a "doctored" window in that case. Or do you mean Na$cars interpretation?

Johnson and his cheating crew chief make me want to puke. There are so many things they can do to the cars to cheat, so when they get caught wether it is a honest mistake or just blatent cheatin take points, money, right off the top. Then suspend driver or crew chief, or black flag the car from the race. Everyone should play by the same rules.

Ross-Like this new thread! I can't stand Jimmie Johnson, he is an idiot! Remember at the Daytona 500 his crew chief got suspended! I guess thats when I started disliking Jimmie! They won a few races without Chad K. I won't even shop at a Lowe's during racing season! I know I'm silly-you all know how I am! I hope Jimmie slips on stage at the ceremony holding is trophy! LOL!

Re: Jimmie Johnson Sucks Thread

I normally stay away from these "[insert driver] SUX!" thread because they inherently inspire a lot of "drive-by poster" offerings. However, I believe I'll stir the pot on this one since it's been hanging around so long...

I'm basically ambivalent about Johnson but I respect the Hell out of his history. He came up what I consider the "real" hard way; off-road racing. If you think running stocks on a ½-mile paved track is difficult, try running them on a ½-mile dirt track. If you think that's as bad as it gets, try sprint car or midgets on that same dirt track. When you have that mastered then try running one of the off-road monsters across uncharted desert (read: Baja) at 100 MPH or race one through mud and over six-foot jumps! To my mind's eye, off-road running, from a drivers point of view, makes Bristol look like something The Village People might enjoy doing.

Personally I just view Johnson as just another of the over-hyped, self-important primadonas that NASCAR seems to breed like guppies. From what I've read in this thread most, but definitely not all, don't have major complaints against Jimmy. It appears to me that Jimmy is a victim of being associated with some charactors whom many have an immediate dislike of.

1. His "Car Owner" Jeffie-Pooh who owns the teams because Rick Hendrick bought Jeffie off with it as a gift, to keep him from becoming one of Ray's drivers. Somewhow Jeffie manages to garner the respect that is normally reserved for folks such as John Wayne Gacy or Paris Hilton.
2. His crew chief who has to be one of NASCAR stupidest crew chiefs. Really smart crew chiefs don't get caught; how many times has NASCAR nails Knause in the past three years?
3. Rick Hendrick, a convicted felon who did the crime ( price fixing, mail fraud and embezzlement) but was too wimpy to do the time. He was the first to circumvent NASCAR two-team per owner rule which has led to the birth of the "Mega-teams" and the demise of the one-car team and thus a basic foundation block of NASCAR.
4. NASCAR,(possibly the biggest culprit of all?) which seems happy to roll over whenever Knause is again caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar. Remember the last Daytona 500. when NASCAR exiled Chad from the track for X number of races but allowed him to continue to call the shots via TV and cell phone? That really penalized Johnson and his chances of winning the Daytona 500, didn't it?

Personally, it wouldn't break my heart if Jimmy announced this week that he was leaving NASCAR to take up his dream of joining Bono in spreading peace, harmony, condoms, foodstuffs and US taxpayer's dollars to starving Third World countries around the globe. His ability is strictly cookie-cutter and another NASCAR driver clone would quickly take his place. There are those who just plain don't like the guy but I honestly believe that there are many who, if they analyzed their feeling, they resent his associates more than they resent Johnson himself.

But, I might be very wrong...?

Re: Jimmie Johnson Sucks Thread

the thing that bothers me is dale jr. at talledega 2yrs ago says a 4 letter word that cost him a title, and knauss admits 2 cheating on a pre race shhow while serving a suspension and johnson keeps his daytona title.Knauss said they try to get every inch as possible and little more.Johnson shouldnt be called a true champion he is a paper champion.

Well Bob... another beauty of a post.... I'll say this... I tried to give him a chance when he first started in the 48 and give him some leeway considering his associates. Then he started acting like his mentor Jeff and a full part of the Hendrick organization. I can't stand him. Terry Labonte was the only class act in the Hendrick organization IMHO.

Thank you.

I see what you're saying and can't disagree. I think it must be something inheirent about being in the employ of Rick Hendrick; if you hang around too long you start to take on a certain patina which doesn't wash off easily. Somehow Terry managed to escape the curse. Thankfully, Ken Schrader, Ricky Craven and Ricky Rudd left before they were stricken. I hope Vickers left before it was too late, but the jury is still out on that one.

You know, I have always thought that Rudd saw the handwriting on the wall in 1992 and took the opportunity to take Tide and open his own shop, rather than stay and play second fiddle to Jeffie-Pooh.
