Re: Take Away Johnson's Daytona 500 Win? Well I think Chad Knaus's suspension was fair but you have to remember about Nascar taking away tony's car a couple of years ago for somthing and he had to go to the back of the field and race his back up car so im not going to vote because it is 50/50 to me

Re: Take Away Johnson's Daytona 500 Win? No real penalty to the team siince they have been winning without him there at the track. I can't believe that he was the only one who was aware they were cheating. There are no secrets.

Re: Take Away Johnson's Daytona 500 Win? The penalty was definately too lenient. If you're going to fine Jr. POINTS for cursing, you'd think you could do the same for cheating. Since cheating has been, and always will be, a part of NASCAR, you'd think they would standardize the penalty if caught. I think that if NASCAR determines that an INTENTIONAL illegal modification is made, there should be an automatic 25pt deduction in owner/driver points (regardless of the specifics). Notice the use of the word "intentional". Any modification which cannot be determined intentional could have a lesser punishment, and be judged on a case-by-case basis. NEVADA: Yeah, you got a little mixed up with your explanation. More spoiler = more drag. CK jacked the rear window up, so that less air would hit the spoiler => less drag. It would also cause less downforce, but that's not an issue at a plate track. -jammin Last edited by jamminj : 03-13-2006 at 09:22 PM.

Re: Take Away Johnson's Daytona 500 Win? I realize less spoiler equals less downforce which I assumed would give more conering speed. More spoiler would make it stick better in the turns. So, I guess the car was too low, and they raised it after failing the height check, then raised the weightjackers which included the window. Like I said, I wasn't 100% sure of what happened, but they did go out of their way to cheat and have very little consequences to show for it except a slight black eye. There are rumors floating around Knaus is looking to get out of his contract and go to Evernham whom he worked for with Gordon. So, some think he is trying to get fired from Hendrick. Just a rumor.
