I heard this reported a couple of weeks ago and don't understand the rationale.
It's pretty clear that cookie-cutter superspeedways like CMS, Texas etc, have gone down in popularity. Tracks like Daytona and Talladega have had complaints also about being too big and too fast, hence plates. The trend will be toward more tracks like Richmond. If they wanted that, why tear down Pikes Peak? Why not buy National Speedway (North of Denver toward Greeley) and redo it. Much cheaper, much closer to Denver.
I know ISC bought PP, but I think it was merely to do away with a BGN event and place it somewhere else more advantageous to NA$CAR.
But, what do I know? I'm probably way off base, but it seems this way to me.
