Darlington Don't Like Truck Drivers...

I have a complant about a Nascar facility...

I had got 2 tickets for the weekend Races next year in Darlington SC. from a very good friend. He knows that I am a die-hard Tony Stewart (No.20), But becouse I and my wife both drive truck, (long haul, +- 6000 miles a week) and that I have never been to a race. So I called Darlington and ask them if I could reserve a RV spot for my truck Note: just bob-tail, not with a trailer... The person that answerd the phone was very rude and crass. He told me that "There is no truck parking, and that I would have to park at the Petro T/S 12 miles away" I told him that I had a show truck, that looked better than most moter homes or RV's. His commentb was. "Trucks are not motor homes & they are not allowed in the RV parking area... period." I told him that I had 2 tickets and that my wife has MS, and I need to park as close as I can, she has a hard time walking, he said "I don't care what she has, Theres no truck parking in the RV area, and for sure none for over nite" than he just hung up.

If all of Nascar personal are like him at Darlington... It's a wonder the French family even has that place in the line up.

I will be sending thisn e-mail to as many friends, other people, places, and any place else that might like to know what Darlington and Nascar think of truck drivers. Becouse I know what I think now of Darlington and Nascar.

If any one knows a Phone Number or email address that mite be of help... please let me know.

Thanks....
Dave Brandt

Re: Darlington Don't Like Truck Drivers...

Wow! That is downright wrong. You might take your problem with Darlington to one of the popular trucking magazines and they could publish your email in it. I used to work for a trucking company and I can assure you most of the drivers and workers there were huge NASCAR fans. They might be interested in your complaint. If nothing else the truckers union could possibly make a huge issue out of it, and that would help create some negative pub for Darlington.

On another note, what kind of truck do you have? Who do you drive for? How big is your sleeper? There are quite a few trucks that look better than any RV that could park there. I have seen a few that are nicer than the motor homes the drivers bring to the track.

If I knew how... I would send you some photos, she's been in 3 calendars, 2 books (1 hard cover and 1 soft) and been in many mags. I'm an O/O, so no Union will help me. As for sending/telling my complant to other places, I'm doing that now.

Thanks for the reply.... And be safe out there

Cool Re: Darlington Don't Like Truck Drivers...

If your truck looks anything like the ones I saw on Discovery Travel, then you should sent a letter with a picture to Bill France and any trucking magazine you can find and I bet it will change their attitude.
