Naughty Robby

Well heres the decision
..his crew chief fined as well

- Robby Gordon has been fined $15,000 and penalized 50 driver championship points for rule infractions in last Sunday's Bass Pro Shops 500, NASCAR announced on Wednesday.

The driver and owner of the No. 7 Chevrolet, Gordon intentionally caused a cautious condition during the Nextel Cup event at Atlanta Motor Speedway and was penalized for actions detrimental to stock car racing. Gordon has been placed on probation until December 31.

Re: Naughty Robby

good, he deserves every last bit of it plus some. I just feel bad about Jeff Burton. He could have cycled around and salvaged a top 10 maybe top 5 finish which would have done wonders for his championship hopes. But no he got stuck a lap (or two?) down by a cheater who wanted to move from 27th to 26th in points.

Ridiculous. If I was Brian France, I would be lobbying to kick Robby out of the circuit for the rest of the season. I bet he wouldn't try it again.

Re: Naughty Robby

There have always been and always will be rules infractions. Could that change ??? YES it can. $15 K is nothing and 50 points to the 26th place driver really means nothing at this point in the season. I believe the penalty should be stiffer. To what degree I don't know and wouldn't even want to take a shot in the dark at it but ........ the price he is paying for this is minimal but the impact on some other drivers is not minimal plus, in my opinion, this type of reaction by the governong body is a slap in the face to the over all rules and to the fans.

Re: Naughty Robby

I find it interesting that, two or three years ago Dale the Junior intentionally spun out (his own post-race admission), in order to bring out a yellow flag to keep from going a lap down. I may be wrong but I do beloieve an intentionally spun car on the track MAY be construed to be a dangerous condition. What happened? He was scolded and made to write "I will not intentionally spin out" on the blackboard 500 times.

Earlier this season, in a Cup Lite race, some kid was televised throwing a driving glove out of his car in order to bring out a yellow flag. What happened? I believe another scolding and possibly double-secret probation (I forget exactly the punitive action taken.

Then Robby does the same thing and, because one of NA$CAR's Chosen complains and tells the interviewere that it MAY have (I think "probably" was the word used but probably and mayb are kissing cousins) hurt his finishing position, NA$CAR fines Robby an insignificant amount of money and some so-so meaningless points. (yawn)

Just another example of NA$CAR's bias for, and against certain drivers. Trust me, if it would have been one the The Chosen," NA$CAR would have steadily looked the other way, "What debris?"

Re: Naughty Robby

Since the season ends in another 2 races after tomorrow, what will Robbie Gordon be on probation from until 12/31?
