Dale Jr. Switching teams???

Hey Every1, I'm a new member so if this has been posted other places, sorry. Iam a HUGE jr fan and I recently heard talk of Jr. moving to RCR next year and possibly bringing out the #3 black car with Budweiser sponsors still. I am torn whether or not this would be a good thing. I mean RCR has their stuff together it seems right now and it would be sweet to see Jr. in a black #3 but that seems too erie to me for him to drive a car that resembles his dad's car that he was killed in. I couldn't drive that car, especially at Daytona. Maybe a black #8 would be cool , I don't know might just be hear-say. Has any1 heard of this news?? if so , please post.

Thanks peeps,

JuneBug8 ( Jason )

Hey Junebug, welcome to the forum.
I havent heard anything on Jr. going to RCR not even on Jayski. Where did you hear this? There are always silly little rumors going around in Na$car, and I gotta believe this is just another one.

Yeah, those rumors have been flyin ever since Earnhardt Sr passed away. Jr said one day he would leave DEI, but he wasn't where he and DEI needed to be at yet.

It's no secret he and Teresa don't always see eye to eye though. When push comes to shove, I think she is final say as to what goes on at DEI and could possibly fire Jr. if she wanted. I'm not saying that is going to happen, but merely suggesting Jr's, ride there isnt set in stone.

I believe Junior's contract was siogned last season and was for five years. But then, how much is a contract in NA$CAR worth these days. Ask Kurt Busch and Jamie McMurray, I guess.

Thinkin to much???? Novel concept. To think or not to think, what Na$car wishes us not to do.

My take on his contract is that it worth more to Budweiser than it is to DEI. As you so graciously noted, contract were made to be broken. I don't see him leaving DEI anytime soon. I'm sure he is getting more money than he can spend, probably has a fair amount of input into the decisions. I would think that DEI might try to buy the number "3" from RCR. Other than for the fans I don't imagine that racing for the same owner as Daddy did is all that important to Jr. Now the number issue MIGHT be a different story. Time will tell.

Re: Dale Jr. Switching teams???

I think it would be disrespectful of his father for Jr to drive a black #3.

Re: Dale Jr. Switching teams???

Thought you might find this interesting being a big Dale Jr fan...

The Wrangler® brand invites racing fans, philanthropic hearts and thrill seekers alike to bid on a 170-mph ride with NASCAR-driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. All auction proceeds (100 percent) benefit The Victory Junction Gang Camp, a racing-themed camp for children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses, based in Randleman.

In cooperation with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Wrangler is auctioning off one opportunity to strap in beside the racing superstar for three unforgettable laps around Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte. The winning bidder will climb into the passenger seat of the famed #8 racecar on Nov. 7, 2006, for a heart- pumping, hair-blowing, scream-inducing ride they won't soon forget.

Besides getting up close and personal with Jr., the winning bidder and one guest will receive airfare, travel and hotel accommodations for one night, compliments of Wrangler. Both will also participate in the Richard Petty Driving Experience, a leader in racing instruction, and cruise around the track in a NASCAR-style car ... this time behind the wheel! Rounding out the NASCAR experience, the winning bidder and guest will be treated to a private tour of the VJG Camp.

"Wrangler's generosity will help Victory Junction continue our mission of hosting children with chronic medical conditions and serious illness in a safe and sound environment for absolutely no cost to their families," said Ryan Shell, media/marketing manager for Victory Junction. "It's an experience that would be impossible for many families if not for donations like this. Our sincere thanks go to our friends at Wrangler and to Dale Jr. for making it happen."

In 2005, Wrangler and the Dale Earnhardt Foundation auctioned a similar experience to benefit the American Red Cross and Hurricanes Katrina and Rita relief efforts. After spending seven days at the top of eBay's "Most Watched" list, the opportunity to ride shotgun with Dale Earnhardt Jr. fetched $42,100.

"Last year's auction was a success because Wrangler, Dale Jr. and NASCAR fans supported Americans in need," said Craig Errington, marketing director for Wrangler. "We are confident this year's auction will again prove Americans' unremitting generosity, this time in support of the VJG Camp. Wrangler is proud to be affiliated with such an admirable organization."

The Wrangler brand has a long-standing relationship with Dale Earnhardt Incorporated and the Earnhardt family, dating back to the 1980s when Dale Earnhardt drove the legendary blue and yellow Wrangler car. Since 2004 Wrangler Jeans Co.(TM) has reigned as the official jeans of Dale Jr. and the #8 Dale Earnhardt Inc. racing team.

About the Auction

Fans can view additional auction details and place their bid on eBay.COM by going to
eBay: The Wrangler NASCAR Experience with Dale Earnhardt Jr. (item 320042821817 end time Nov-01-06 19:00:00 PST)
or entering "The Wrangler NASCAR Experience with Dale Earnhardt Jr." The auction will end at 11:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, with the winner announced on Wrangler Jeans, Blue Jeans, Man Jeans, Womens Jeans and Victory Junction.
