Your point of Brian's destroying the relationship with long-time NASCAR fans hit the nail right on the head. There is a thread right now entitled "Why do you watch NASCAR?" Speaking onlyu for myself, but I have a suspicion I'm not alone, watching NASCAR is like a wreck along the highway. You really don't want to look but between [morbid] curiousity and there not being much else to look at, you just can't help but sneak a glance. Quote:

| Re: Chase Format for Busch Series? Here is the answer to all of our problems. Split NASCAR in 2 or 3 or 4 divisions of the cup series. Split evenly I might add. Teams choose their division by what track is on the schedule they want. Combined division races at Daytona, Dega and Charlotte. Like when the MLB American league play the National league. The winners of the divisions go to the playoffs. And there is no swapping divisions. We have enough tracks to where an even amount of intermediate, short and supers that all get to have a level playing field.Where a champion emerges from all the piles of crap the teams, sponsors, Big Daddy B.F. and what the fans throw in to make it a little more of a mess. Simple, yes? |

Besides, you might not remember but Bruton Smith and Humpy Wheeler brought a version of your idea to the surface a decade ago (two divisions, not four) and it never got off the ground. |

| Re: Chase Format for Busch Series? Ban the chase all together in every series. It makes drivers change the way they approach a race depending on where they are either in or out of the top 12...and that changes as the season ends. I want all drivers out there driving to win. Cup drivers in the Busch series. I don't mind. It's a whole other race series. No one complains when the cup drivers like Kenny Schraeder races in the truck series. Now if NASCAR wants to designate Busch as a developmental series (which it currently isn't labeled as such - just a smaller series with a different rule set). Now if they designate it as a developmental series then you could limit the number of appearances by cup drivers who are full time etc.... Personally I like the cup drivers in Busch cars...especially after the COT made it's debut. I'd rather watch Busch races now than cup races for the most part. |
