i think it is ok for women to not take off their hat. during the kentucky derby with all those big hats it would mess up their hair do.

and then if the pony tail loops thru the adjustable band, it just gets in the way

I would totally agree with you, Gobrian, EXCEPT that the now infamous Mrs. Harvick is not wearing an elaborate afternoon day-at-the-races hat that high society traditions demands be worn at the world's second greatest horse race. She's wearing a FREAKIN' ball cap!

Secondly I don't believe that her tonsorial affect of wrapping her hair in a ponytail and letting it hang out the back of her cap poses the same threat to her overall appearance that the disruption of the expensive coiffures worn by the ladies at The Derby would pose.

Let's face it. She is coming off to several of us who have a deep reverence for our National Ensign as a no-class bimbo who shows marginal patriotism and refuses to doff her cover merely because she can.

I'm not saying her refusal to remove the hat puts her in the same category with Jane Fonda or The Dixie Twits. I'm just saying that her faux pas is merely an insight into her true [lack of] charactor.

Well, NBC seems that it is fitting to show Mrs Harvick with her hat on again in Texas. I guess the patriotic wifes don't matter, since they didnt bother to show any other driver or wife during the anthem EXCEPT the Harvicks. It just makes you wonder what is going on in the minds of NBCs head honchos.

In one of the sites I went to looking up what is right it noted that, YES woman may wear their hat during the playing of the national anthem .... but if they are wearing a ball cap then they should take it off. NO there is no law or official ruling that states that it but as Bob says it is merely common sense and I would add courtesy to those who are and those who have served their country with honor.

Not to mention the fact it is being discussed, rather adamantly, on other message boards besides this one. There is no way she doesnt know she is being scrutinzied for her behavior. Its obvious NBC does as well.......which is why they make it a point to show her every week. I suppose her husbands arrogance is rubbing off on her.

SOOO, which is more sad, the fact that she is a dumb clueless blond or NBC's pitifull attempt to create drama by showing her? Trust me they know. I've written to the Harvick website a couple of times. Go figure .... NO RESPONSE !!!
