bump drafting... a skill or a source of annoyance?

Bump drafting is the skill of intimidating the opposition, whilst saving fuel, and getting position for passing shot... so why is NASCAR so against it?

The cars of equal performance, so its down to true grit, and nerve to push...

Its what we enjoy on our local track at Orange County Speedway....

Quality,

Its competetive racing at its best... if you can't beat em, then push 'em.... works for Brian Vickers, on more than one occasion...

can be messy... but its first across the line!

I don't disagree Donno. I don't. Just wait, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

It worked on a lot more occasions for Gordon and Johnson than it did for Vickers. He was doing all the pushing, while his ingrate teammates were getting all the wins and accolades.
I love bump drafting and Earnhardt senior was the master and probably inventor of it. As long as its not done in the turns, its awesome especially with bumper cams!

Hey Donno welcome to GTG, I have a feeling you are going to make things interesting around here If things do get heated plese just remember you may bash the hell out of the drivers, owners and NASCAR...France, please do as he is a ----- fill in the blank. And don't forget to enter you predictions for the races and win big bucks. Also check out the forums and my favorite down in the cellar, Rodeo, thats where all the rank stuff is.

Thumbs down Re: bump drafting... a skill or a source of annoyance?

Its the luck of the draw.... push me, pull me.... spin out the guy out in front if that's what takes to win...

Team rules screwed F1... and this 5 points for a lead lap, and then pass a team mate isnt 'sporting'.... I'm with Brian, screw the team, take the win!

Ah come on Donno... don't you know... he's no longer "part of the organization". If you race... ah hell.... I can't finish it... Ross will give me the boot.

As 88 said just stand by ..... Here's my take on bump drafting. It's fine on the straights. In the corners it becomes a disaster plan. I agree that if you have the speed then go right on by, but that statement basically admits that I can pass you but I just want to tap you to make sure you must at the very least get out of the gas. Dale Sr. was in fact at master at bump drafting but all to ofetn he would do it in the turns and the effect was generally devastating for the one being bumped. For me doing it in the corner has the same effect as carrying a gun and shooting out a tire. The end result is often the same. NASCAR has said that the bump drafting will be allowed on the straights but not in the corners. They just need to follow up on their own rulings.

Dale Jr. agrees with you and he was the one in the "mess".

Bump drafting is just part of racing. If you don't like it, Jeff Gordon, then get out of the way!

I am firmly convinced that Brian France is using the F1 model as a plan for NA$CAR.

Donno, Donno, Donno... Please revert back to your F1 101 lesson. It all depends on who is passed and who is doing the passing. Here, in this new, "team-oriented" NA$CAR, it's just considered "not being a team player." In F1, you may as well change you name to Judas.

For example, in F1, if you are driving a Ferrari, it is a mortal sin, punishable by death, I believe, to pass Sir Michael of Schumacher, if he is in any of the top six positions.

Since he announced the unthinkable; that he didn't think being the "step child" in an organization where the obvious primary teams were Jeffie-Pooh and Sir Jimmy, (The same thing that Ricky Rudd did in 1993 when The Felon stole Jeffie-Pooh from Bill Davis) Brian had effectively been ostracized from everything not involving a physical presence behind a steering wheel.

I must say that I thought that Johnson and the klutziest crew chief in NA$CAR, Brad Knause (he's been caught cheating more than any other single CC in the last two years) both reacted typical of people of their ilk; "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!"
