How do you make an avatar?

I am new so don't kill me for this!
I really can't figure out how to create my avatar!
Can someone help?

If you're looking towards actually creating one, you'll need some sort of graphics program. Whether you create your own or find a pic online and resize it, it's up to you.

If you go to Resize Images online They have a link to avatar maker, and its a good site to shrink your pictures for posting here, myspace, or other messageboards as well as e-mail. And best of all its free.
