Yep. The operant phrase is "On paper." In the 2006 NASCAR Press Guide, the #17 is listed as being solely owner by Jack.

In an interview I heard a couple weeks ago, Mark said that Roush "gave" the #17 the Mark when Kenseth came up as a rookie. As soon as NASCAR raised the owner limit to four, and Roush dropped a team, Roush immediately took the #17 team back.

Mega-teams...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

I predict the present limit of four will remain and that will be the maximum number of teams one owner may have when NA$CAR begins to franchise the teams, in...??? 2009, 2010?

Or when Hendrick drops to 3 teams then Na$car will lower the limit.

I believe, Q88, that in the brave, new world that Brian France is creating for we race fans, there will be a maximum of twelve franchised team owners, either a single owner like The Felon (Hendrick), or a "corporation," like Mark Martin and Bobby Ginn, with four teams per operation.
