| UPSET over ESPN As a NASCAR fan I have grown use to the announcers that we had for the 2 halves of the season. DW, Jeff Hammond and that bunch were fun and knew what they were talking about. Then we have Wally and BP along with Chris Meyer who also do a wonderful job and know thier stuff. ESPN gives us Brent Musburger and Dr. Jerry Punch, what kind of Doctor is he anyway? I must have missed thier racing careers and poor Rusty just rambles on Indy race coverage. Thank goodness I can turn down the volume and listen to Sirus radio next season. Can't hardly wait Boogity Boogity Boogity boys let's go racin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

One thing I *did* know is he was the backup quarterback for coach Lou Holtz in college at North Carolina State. ESPN's full biography of him As for Chris Myers.. I can't stand him on NASCAR. |

I don't like open wheel AS much as Nascar, mainly for the fact that a little bump and your car is toast in open wheel. |

I thought Rusty did an adequate job with IRL coverage this year. I think he'll do well next season and probably we won't hear him say, "IF I were driving...," or "Well, I was a champion..." Alan Bestwick is a proven interviewer, as is Dave Burns. The weak link might be, in my opinion, Andy Petree (who comes off like an educated Larry Mac, to me anyway), but has very limited experience with a microphone. The other weak link may be Musburger, who is a stick&ball retread. I would much, much rather have seen ESPN do whatever it took to get Bob Jenkins back but, alas, that was not to be. But Jenkins, Doc Jerry and Rusty in the booth would have been a formiable combination. I see they have gotten Brad Daugherty with them. That should be interresting. He was the owner of Robert Pressley's Alliance Driving School BGN car when Robert won the BGN championship. Jamie Little and Mike Massaro...? We'll have to wait and see. Just be glad they didn't get Bill Weber and Jack Arute. Talk about a couppe of minor-talented schlumps! Overall, personally, I'm looking forward to seeing what ESPN brings to the viewers. I see coverage which doesn't talk down to the viewers and explain "tight" and "loose" every single week! And, above all, they hopefully won't have a booth comprised of guys who feel it necessary to have you relive their glory days every fifteen minutes and who, also hopefully, won't butcher the English language and come off, in my opinion, like a couple of 4th grade dropouts.

| Re: UPSET over ESPN Bestwick and Steve Byrnes are my favorite interviewers....even through Byrnes' eye infection that made him harder to 'look' at than Stuart Scott's wandering eye. Then again I'd rather have a female driver to look at once in a while.. but I really think that's 10 years off at least. |

| Re: UPSET over ESPN So you guys would rather see Bill Weber, Wally Dallenbach, and Benny Parsons broadcast a NASCAR race? Thats the worst NASCAR broadcast team ever. I think FOX is the best, but hopefully ESPN will provide great coverage, which I think they will. Rusty will be a great analyst, I've watched some old races with Dr. Jerry Punch, he's ok, and I don't know who Brent Musburger is, so yeah. ESPN will be better than NBC, but not FOX.

I heartily agree that they'll be better than NBC. That won't take much effort. The only bright spots that NBC had were BP and Alan Bestwick. I also believe, down to the bottom of my aged little heart that they'll far surpass FOX, if only because DW and Larry Mac won't be poluting the airwaves. Fox has Mike Joy and that's about all, or at least, that's my personal opinion. Brent Musburger has been around for years; since the early 70's anyway (I believe). He's kind of like Jim MacKay; he just seems to have been around forever. Gee, I thought everyone recognized Musburger? I must be getting really old. <sigh> |

Alan lost favor with NBC when he put his personal life ahead of his in-the-booth life, or so I heard. |
