I believe that of all the former booth announcers, Ned is the one I miss the most. Buddy... he and his, "The guy really has a rocketship today..." wore on my nerves a bit. I'm afraid that rural homilies just aren't my thing but there is nothing really bad about them. However, Buddy is a cut above what Fox has in the booth today, in my opinion. But them, my opinion is coloured by the fact that DW has remained on list list of disliked racing personalities since 1976. Larry Mac was great as a chief mechanic but putting a microphone in his hand is like giving a two year old a box of crayons in a room with pristine white walls. I think that Nevada is correct; it all went to Hell when NASCAR sold out to the networks and they started this "Happy Talk" concept in the booth. I fear the demograghic they are aiming at isn't the one I'm in. From what I can ascertain, the mix that ESPN will utilize might not be as "cutesy" as what we have today, but then, speaking for myself, I don't watch racing for "cute,"; i.e. "Boogity, boogity"- which isn't even original with that jerk, DW; it's a line from a 60's R&R song, "Who Put the Bop in the Bop-Shibop, Shibop?", I watch it for racing. But it's all just one fan's opinion...
