Troubled manufacturer struggling at track, too

We've kind of talked about this before, but now its rearing it's ugly head again. Y'all think this could be the real reason we are see ship jumping? We got Elliot to Dodge, Mark to Chevy and Them's to Toyota.

Amid distressing news of layoffs, buyouts and factory closings, the Ford brand also is taking hits at the race track these days. Even longtime Ford driver Mark Martin is ditching the Dearborn, Mich., company to drive a Chevrolet in 2007.

Granny, just my opinion but I don't think Mark's going to Ginn and Chevie has anything to do with Ford's problems.

I think we're getting only the tip of this story and there is more to it. My personal idea is that Mark is laying the groundwork to become either a partner, or an outright team owner when, in a couple years, NASCAR franchises its teams. I believe that he is doing this in order to ensure that when Matt finally comes of age, he can be in a car wholy under the control of his dad.

I believe that it may turn out that Mark's "strange" move is part of a long range plan.

But, I could easily be wrong...
