Now that's something I can agree with you on Mike.

I read the article and it in no way hints that it was Jrs fans calling the race track. Stop trying to blame things on the fans of one driver when you have no proof. The truth is that ALL drivers, especially the popular ones have fans who go way overboard. Yes, even Gordon has some over the top fans.

Oh yeah, so Jr fans come whining at Vickers because he made a move Dale Sr did many times, and you don't expect Jr fans to react that way? I know the article does not mention that, but the point I am getting to is some of these Jr fans will attack drivers because they beat him? And I have proof, lets go back to Talladega 04 when he beat Jr, and some Jr fans had to whine like babies and throw stuff at him. Now Jr fans, and now even Johnson fans, will try to attack Vickers. Gordon has some over the top fans? I would go talk to some of these Jr fans about going over the top. And by the way, Im not saying anyone on this site, so don't come all arguing to me because you think Im mentioning you.

I would have done the same thing for my first win, he's come close so many times and fallen short. Throw what you want at me, strip the win from me because I wrecked Junior, stripping that win would set a precedent and two thirds of Dale Sr.'s wins would also evaporate like so much victory lane Gatorade.

I think the "extra security" is just a ploy to help hype the race and this whole chase crap

NASCAR is not WWE by all means. Well, lets just say NASCAR has more entertainment than WWE does.

It's starting to get like the WWE cause the media hypes it up to be more than it is. There's to much drama.

Show me a sport that doesn't have some over the top fans. There aren't all that many of them but those who are true groupies will do whatever is necessary to show their compassion for their sports figure .... even though the sports figure has no clue who we/you are

That dosen't mean you throw debris at a driver for winning in anyway shape or form. I don't care how he wins the race, throwing debris at a driver for winning a race is uncalled for and should not be allowed back to a NASCAR race.

I won't argue your point but what I will ask you is how many other sporting events has that same scenerio occurred and has it ever happened at a NASCAR race besides the one you are referring to ??

The only other sports I can recall seeing it happen is in Baseball and Football, which is pretty sad as well.

Hmmm...

As I remember, which may be in error, I believe the fans threw cans at Daddy Dale when he put Terry Labonte into the wall on the last lap at Bristol.

Just a couple of years ago I think that Mikey won a race under a yellow flag that the fans disagreed with and they pelted the track with seat cushions.

Back in 1982 my ol' buddy, DW, got mouthy over the track PA in Talladega's (I believe) Victory Lane and the Alabama State Police had to give him protection until he was off the track property.

It seems as though I've heard that throwing chicken bones at a car at Martinsville got so out of hand that they quit selling chicken wings for awhile because the practice was almost becoming a "tradition."

Of course, vandalism isn't confined to NASCAR. I, personally, have been to Blackhawk games in Chicago and have seen "Fans" heat pennies and throw them on the ice. I remember back when I followed stick&ball that I've seen fans pelt outfielders with God-knows-what.

I guess that it all shows that some fans exhibit all the class of a stalk of rhubarb.

Re: LMS adds extra security for Vickers

Sports is getting to the point where we need the 82nd Airborne and Tanks to make sure the drivers are safe. Some fans are just too wild these days, and not to mention some of them have like 10 beers which dosen't help any.
