Dover 400 Discussion

Let's hear what you guys have to say about the upcoming Dover400 race. The Dover 400 NASCAR race will be held at Dover International Speedway in Dover, DE on September 24.

Also, make your race predictions in the official race prediction thread. We have a weekly contest to see who can pick the winners.

Use this thread to discuss the race, why there's no title sponsor, past Dover races in Delaware and anything else about the upcoming Dover 400 race.

Re: Dover 400 Discussion

Personally I'm tired of corporate sponsorship. They should all be called "The ________ 400" or whatever the distance is.

I don't even know where Dover is today. So you could call it whatever you want.

Re: Dover 400 Discussion

lol, I always wondered if anybody actually read what I put in that 1st post to get these discussions going. Thanks for noticing lsc

But seriously, wonder why they didn't sell their name like so many other races have done? I can't imagine it's oput of any historical feelings or anything noble like that. Probably they're just holding out for some outrageous amount.

Ross, wasn't this the MBNA 400 last year? I read in the WSJ where MBNA has been bought by BOA and the sponsorship contract didn't transfer with the buyout.

For Grandma: Dover is a port city in England, in County Kent, I believe. It is the closest English city to the Continent (Caliase, France). Known for its beautiful white cliffs and it's world reknown racetrack sitting on Highway 1, across the street from the University of Deleware.

Re: Dover 400 Discussion

I still think we need to have a race named the "To Hell with Corporate Sponsorship 500".

I'll <hic> drink to that! However, I fear corporate sponsorship in sports is like the brother-in-law who moves in "for just a little while until things get better," then years later, he's still there and you can't get rid of him.

Everybody start your snakes and get ready for the Steve Irwin BOA 400.
