Those Loveable NASCAR Cup Teams

The followinmg was taken from Matt McLaughlin's "Richmond Recap" in the post-Richmond Racing Stalkers blog:

"Was anyone else nauseated by all that talk of drivers being willing to surrender even a win to allow a teammate to make the Chase? (Only Matt Kenseth seemed to reject the notion out of hand.) That’s another slippery step down the slope of NASCAR falling to the boring level of F1. With every driver in the playoffs having at least one teammate not competing for the title it’s troubling to think those drivers outside the top 10 might wreck another driver, let their teammate pass or even park the car to help the anointed members of their team win. NASCAR needs to nip that practice in the bud though it will be tough to police."

Normally I don't like to cut and paste but Matt said it far more eloquently than I could ever hope to. Think they won't do it? Just remember back to how many drivers let their team mates get a lap back before NASCAR finally put a stop to that disgraceful practice.

Comments?

Matt as always, is spot on and speaks his mind. Big money (corporate sponsors) has no morals or boundaries. Heck, if you have enough money you can get away with murder (O.J.).

Yep. The boy is a "Must read" for me after each race.

On another subject, sometime yyou have to tell me the story about how you ended up in Fallon, NV (I know, it's none of my business, but...?). The last time I was there the biggest enterprises in the vicinity were the Auxillary Naval Air Station and the Bunny Ranch.

Ending up in Fallon is like ending up in Searchlight, NV. There has to be an interesting story there. <g>

No big story or secret Bob. A year ago, my wife and I got tired of the insane growth going on in our native area, Sacramento, Ca. So, after she retired from the School Dist, we cashed in our chips (EQUITY!), and moved to small town USA. Nearly paid cash from a new home on an acre of high desert, and are just loving the peace and quiet, plus the STARS are amazing........hence my handle. The Nevada desert isnt for everyone, and that's what we love about it. We can ride our ATVs out our back door and go for miles and miles and never see a sole........

I can dig wanting to see Sac-town in your rearview mirror.

Well, having been to Fallon, I can atest to the fact that you certainly succeeded in your desire for a less dense population! I'm a big city guy and Mobile (300K) is about as small as I care to live in. However, I sure appreciate your preference for small-town USA. I love boony stomping out in the desert. (Not the totally uninhabited parts, mind you. Old ghost towns and the like)
