| Being a fan Alright first off... No flaming each other folks. We all are fans. We all have opinions. We will agree and disagree. We all have our reasons why we are who we are and why we support our favorite driver/team. We cheer and defend them. That's what we do. We are fans. I'll admit I bash Jeff Gordon. I have many reasons why. However in return I know it will come back and except that. I take it in stride. Some fans like drivers/teams because of their stats. Others like me don't give a rats patoot about stats, but rather character. Some times we get a little carried away. Welcome to being a fan. Everyone should be proud of being a fan. Now let's see what everyone else thinks. State why your are a fan. NO FLAMING EACH OTHER.

| Re: Being a fan I don't love or hate a driver. I will always back up my favorite driver/team, which is Jeff Gordon and the Hendrick Motorsports organazation, Im just not going to sit back and let it go, I will always have a say in the matter. But you do make a good point. We are fans. I am a fan because I like the competition and the racing that NASCAR has to offer. I don't bash or flame anyone for hating my favorite driver or disagreeing with me on a certain subject/topic, but I will say I disagree with that certain person and I will post a reason why, but I won't bash or flame the person for disagreeing with something that I agree with. We are NASCAR fans, and we all have different opinions on subjects/topics. |

| Re: Being a fan I'm a fan because I've been one since 1957. I grew up near Indianapolis in the 50's so being a race fan was a natural as riding a bicycle. I've attended races of all sorts since I was in grade school and was involved with the early years of ASA (American Speed Assoc) in the late 60's. I continually complain about NASCAR, but that is because of changes over the years which, in my opinion, has detracted from racing to win, to racing top acquire points. Deep in my heart I know that NASCAR has transitioned from being a sport to a profit-motivated business enterprise. I'm trying to cling to a memory of racing the way it was, but I know it's a losing cause. So I plod along, finding myself being less and less a fan and more and more of a casual spectator. IRT being a driver fan, none of the current primadonas particular inspire me to especially favor them. As I've stated before, my favorite drivers, in their respective eras were Curtis Turner, Ned Jarrett, David Pearson, Tim Richmond and Dale Earnhardt Sr. Three of the five actually attained the championship.
