Bob is asking for some assistance with his memory.

Three or four years ago, at Daytona time, there was a big "brew-ha-ha"over some journalists voicing dissatifaction over something NA$CAR had decreed over the off-season. Can someone remember what this was all about?

All I remember for sure is that NA$CAR threatened to pull press credentials, and blackballed at least two writers. One was Matt McLaughlin, whom some of us here read. The other was NASCAR SCENE's Steve Waid, who used to be a fixture on Speed Channel. It was the biggest hatchet job since Larry Nuber loss his position in the booth because he criticized NASCAR for its association with RJR.

For the life of me I can not remember what this was all about. I believe it was opposition to the playoff but I can't say for sure. Is there some fan out there who remembers this?

I don't remember what it is you are refering to, but I do know Matt McLaughlin, my favorite writer, fell off the planet last year. Thanks to you, I now have him back.

I assumed it was just a matter of time until the higher powers blackballed him. Can't step on Na$cars toes ya know.
