Additional tweaking to chase

I think they need to award more for race winners and pole winners. I think that their should be 2 "wildcard" spots in the Chase that are for the person who won the most races and for the person who won the most poles. This way it will pay off to actually win races and win poles.

Re: Additional tweaking to chase

hey Joe, welcome to the forum

i really like your idea

reminds me of seeing Rusty Wallace on Letterman commenting on not winning the Cup

we tried winning the most races, and that didnt work
but i still see a problem, even if you let them in the chase, do they even have a slightly realistic chance of winning the Cup ?

i seriously doubt it

how about, along with your idea, you sorta reset the points for those in the chase ?

maybe not make them all equal, but make them closer...so they all have a real chance to win it

Re: Additional tweaking to chase

Well right now they do reset the points, the two wild cards would be 11th and 12th in the Chase.

First off... welcome to goteamsgo Joe. Second, that's what they do isn't simple. They reset the top ten many points ahead #11 and they also set the top ten like 5 points apart from each other.

Re: Additional tweaking to chase

ill be honest with you Q88, i havent been paying as much attention to NASCAR as i should

since # 3 died, my interest has gone way down

but ive decided that enough time has passed

next year im hitching my wagon to the Montoya train and hoping for the best

here's to me giving it another chance

(oh, and i wasnt a casual bandwagon fan of Dales, i liked him back before he drove for RCR)

Hey BigJoe welcome to GTG, I'm so happy today I agree with any thing anyone says. You have found the best sport forum on the net, and check out the basement, we have fun all over the place here.

Whatever they do (I think doing away with the playoff would be great), they will tweak it so that the drivers with the biggest sales in souvenir/clothing/toy cars will make the playoffs.

I predict we have seen the very last playoff where NA$CAR's most popular drivers don't make the show, no matter how mediocre they perform during the season.

Re: Additional tweaking to chase

I agree that something should be done to tweak the current scoring system. After Kahne's win in California yesterday, he has more wins than any other driver this year. Yet he still sits on the outside looking in when it comes to the chase. I understand that he has had some lousy finishes to go with his 5 wins but I think Nascar is shooting itself in the foot with the current setup.

If a victory were worth substantially more points, you would give the drivers a bigger incentive to win and would therefore have a much more exciting race. As it stands, the driver is content with finishing in the top 10 and taking the points.

I still believe there has to be a penalty for finishing a race in last place but it takes so many good races to make up for a bad one that something should be done.

Re: Additional tweaking to chase

They have to do something to put a premium on winning races. I also think they need to give spots 35-43 the same number of points. I hate it when a wrecked, trashed car goes back out on the track and messes the race up for other people just to gain a point or 2.

Read my new post in the chase. Welcome to GTG Spivey. I couldn't agree with you more ,I think a win deserves more points and I think points should be given for getting the pole. The Race from begining to end would be more exciting. Driver's saving their tires has sort of become a joke around here. Sure hope to see you here offen and I have to tell you to check out the cellar. We have lots of fun there, thats where all the rank stuff is.

I still think consistant racing too often equals mediocrity and boring races. Give more incentive for racing to win a race, not to win the championship. Junior Johnson had it right, "I always figgered that if you win the race, the championship'd take care of itself."
