thats actually a perfect example

if conditions were 100% right Patrick could win the Indy 500 .... a great feat .. but it still wouldnt mean she was a great driver

Not since I heard he say once that folks hated her because she was beautiful. She didn't say cute, or good looking, or attractive, but she said beautiful. I soooooooooo despise arrogance, in anyone. It's not just about her.

She may be a good driver, but a man throwing the temper tantrums she does would be facing some form of discipline. She has slapped other drivers, and run them down in the media. I think she needs to accomplish a bit more before running others down.

For example, her Dan Weldon "feud" last year.

Please....

I have only seen the one argument last season that ESPN showed for days. Is she prone to temper tantrums? Are there links to stories. I would like to read them.

a single occurrence of this type is noteworthy, but is really only a "flash in the pan". life is full of stories of single (flash in the pan) achievements. none prove greatness. greatness is proved by continued accomplishments over time. when Ms Patrick comes close to the success of the lady described below she might be considered great:
She is the first woman to earn a starting spot in the Indianapolis 500 (1977) and the Daytona 500 (1977), where she was Top Rookie. Her ninth-place finish in the Indianapolis 500 (1978), with a team she formed and managed herself, was the best by a woman until 2005 (Danica Patrick's 4th place finish.) She set fastest time of day at Indianapolis on May 7 and May 22, 1977.

In her brief career at the top levels of racing, she earned top-ten starting positions and posted top-ten finishes in both Indy-car Championship racing and in NASCAR Winston Cup (became Nextel Cup then Sprint Cup). Her fifth-place Indy-car finish at Milwaukee in 1979 was the best by a woman for 21 years. Her sixth-place Winston Cup finish at Bristol in 1977 remains the best by a woman in NASCAR’s superspeedway era. She is the only woman to lead a Winston Cup race. She was Top Rookie in five Winston Cup races.

A graduate of the University of Michigan (B. Sc. in physics), she received her pilot's license at 17, was a flight instructor and an aerospace engineer and was a women astronaut candidate. Her racing helmet and driver's suit are in the Smithsonian Institution. She is a charter member of the Women's Sports Foundation International Women's Sports Hall of Fame. She was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2006.
You know this lady as Janet Guthrie.

There's an interesting article here about Ms. Guthrie.

I wonder how Ms. Patrick would have handled the hostility Ms. Guthrie faced as she rose to the top levels of motorsports?

I have to find some of them. IRL news can be hard to find.

The motor sports year in the rear view mirror - Danica Patrick

This is the one that is the biggest so far. I just tried a goode search, but came up empty!

I know she had the Weldon one that I've linked to, and I'm about 99.9% sure the driver she slapped in the ambulance was someone else!

I'll work on it more later!

So does that mean if conditions are 100% right, I could win the Indy 500? I'm not a very good driver. Are you saying luck plays into it a lot?
I mean, in football, if the defense all dropped dead at once, I could probably run the ball in for a touchdown. (from the 10) But those are extreme right conditions.
I'm not being a wisea$$ here, simon. I'm being serious(for once)

Here again I read that statement as it applies to her only. If everything she did and assuming that what everyone else did gave her the edge then yes the conditions 100% right. I think you can look at victory in any event as "conditions being 100% right". The team, player, driver ...etc may not be at their best but if it all falls in place then the conditions are 100% right.

Danica is feisty, she does have a temper. I personally think its kind of sexy though.

Re: Danica Patrick

I don't care about her at all. She is an over hyped/rated driver. As I've said several times if she were a he named Daniel Patrick and had the same record ... this thread wouldn't even exist.
