I dont know about racing, but it seemed like you and simon were the only naysayers so maybe she has more going for her than you give her credit for.

No, she doesn't. She's overrated and only gets attention because of her looks.

there is nothing to defend ....... she is a lousy driver

she is on Team Green which is the best possible place to be ..... it's all her lack of ability

don't think I'd call her a "lousy driver", but she's not championship material by any means.

in 3 seasons in IRL she has failed to finish 21% of the races she's started (10 of 47), and seen the podium (1st-3rd) only 3 times but is without a win. it cannot be said she has had inferior equipment as she spent 2 seasons with Rahal before jumping to Andretti Green.

most racing fans, myself included, believe without her good looks and her exploitation of them, she would not have reached her current level in the sport.

and my own personal observation is she's a moody female who demands others accede to her desires .. there are more non "glamor" pictures of her with a scowl on her face than smiling .. she just doesn't seem a friendly type person, thus her "likability" rating is pretty low, in my book anyway.

Come on now Simon. This thread sat dead for 7 months and you wonder if we can give up on her ???

I never thought she was a great driver. She has had some great moments but not even one win yet. If we removed all the posts about how "hot" she is this thread wouldn't contain half as many posts. It still amazes me how the subject often turns to talk about her "looks". Not any real "sport" in that.

Not to cause trouble or anything, but it just seems that these two sentences contradict. I am sure, though, that LSC will clear this up for me.

Dear Mr. azrael:
In answer to your question, neither would be correct. The better way would be to say "this person"
Sincerely,
The PC Police

Now this is a serious reply Bette. I'm not playing with words at all. Patrick is not a great driver (overall) but because she will have a much longer career in Indy cars she will accomplish greater feats than what Janet Guthrie did. Guthrie only raced at Indy for 4 years. Had she had a longer career with the same level of equipment that Patrick has then maybe Guthrie would have had more impressive numbers.

Again ... greater feats versus being a great driver is two different worlds. Agree or disagree ???

This is a point I've tried to stress all along. Glamor and or sexuality have no bookmark in my racing book.

Not being a racing fan, I cant really say. But it seems you would have to be a pretty good driver to hang around long enough to accomplish great feats.

If all she has going is just her sexuality, then why isnt she immediately classified as a bimbo and people ignore her????

For argument sake...define "great"...since we can all have a different definition of the word...for all we know, you might take it to have a gender slant to it...

So I won't jump on you about your lack of racing knowledge but there are many drivers/teams that hang around and never accomplish great feats. Their longevity has more to do with corporate sponsorship than success.

I ignore her and once again I will point out that this particular thread sat idle for 7 months until it was again brought to life. I don't have any great hatred for her but I do feel that at this point in time she is overrated for the amount of press she gets. If she was a he and his name was Daniel Patrick and had the same record .... there would be no thread about him. I totally do not like sexual exploitation by the media or by her herself

I'm not trying to avoid answering the question but ... in my mind and from the stats I see, she is not great, but it still allows her to complete great feats. Case in point is Derek Cope, he is not a great driver but he has some great feats to his credit. He is a Daytona 500 winner. A great feat .... but not by a great driver.
