| F1 Pit Lane Walk Draws 25,000 Fans To The Circuit De Catalunya The Spanish F1 Grand Prix set off today with the traditional Pit Lane Walk. Over 25,000 motor sports lovers came to the track to watch the teams get their vehicles ready for tomorrow's free practice. A plaque in honour of Nelson Piquet, three times F1 World Champion in 1981, 1983 and 1987, was presented today at Champions' Avenue. The former champion was represented by his son, Nelson Piquet Jr., who is currently racing for Renault. Shortly before that, the first official press conference featured Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari), Fernando Alonso (Renault), Rubens Barrichello (Honda) and Pedro de la Rosa (McLaren). Alonso stated he was not "not sure if the improvements in the car would win them a podium, something that is still a dream for us". The reigning World Champion and current season leader Kimi Räikkönen showed more confidence, although the said that "Ferrari, McLaren and BMW were quite close" in the championship. This will also be a special event for Rubens Barrichello, for this one will be his 257th Formula One race, just three away from the longevous 260-race record in the category. Source: PaddockTalk
