Not that I believe Danica in any way legitimately compares to Hammerin' Hank. Not yet, anyway. Maybe in time.
LOL...see how I did that?... ...I went from Jackie to Hank...so offer me Willie Mays and we will call it a day...

My point is that any male driver her age and theoretical talent with one victory will be identified as "Who ????" Put all her stats up on the board and judge her current status by her current stats. I find that her notoriety exceeds her stats.

You'll not see me move the bar for any driver but the bar is certainly in motion when it comes to her. In my world of NASCAR there are drivers that have been around for 20 plus years and some that have only been around a few. I don't care how long someone has been the face of NASCAR. It means nothing to me. When I compare one to another I look at the stats. I don't care if they are married with 3 kids, two dogs, an SUV and an in ground pool and the other driver is single and drives a 3 year old truck. It's the stats.

My longstanding point of view is the same as I stated earlier. If she were a he we'd have never heard about this win. Get over it.

How is Danica posing in SI or any magizine showing her sex appeal any different then Kasey Kahne doing that fruity commercial in those pink pajama's. Or Carl Edwards posing shirtless on ESPN Mag. OR Dale Jr. showing his A$$ in those wrangler jeans commercials we see 6 times a race????
LSC.... Don't hate the player, hate the game!

LCS Yes Carl has more wins and got his first win quickly. It took a zero talent like Danika 50 whole races to get her win. Out of those 50 races she has finished in the top 10 a total of 25 times which is a very respectable 50% which is pretty impressive if you ask me. But it has taken her 50 races to win her first race!! Oh my God that's awful!!
Let's take a look at some of these other drivers and how many starts did they have before they reached victory lane for the first time:

Martin Truex- over 45 starts before first win
Kurt Bush- over 45 starts before first win
Mark Martin- over 90 starts before first win
Dale Jarrett- over 100 starts before first win
Rusty Wallace- over 50 starts before first win
Casey Mears- over 100 starts before first win
Elliot Sadler- over 70 starts before first win
Michael Waltrip- over 300 starts before first win
David Stremme- over 70 starts and still counting
Reed Sorenson- over 80 starts and still counting

I'm still unconvinced that she is that great, but I'm more than willing to be proven wrong.
Don't want to hear any of the Fuel Milage stuff... Remember she lost a fuel milage race with a few laps to go. A little race called the Indy 500!

Did you see the "comical" Trophy sizes?. The 2nd place one is on the podium to the left of 1st place's MONSTER

Re: Danica Wins!

Yup I'm back for yet another round of beatings. I think I'm misunderstood here but that's OK. First off I do not hate or even dislike Danica Patrick. I'm all for her earning the title of successful. I do not hate the player or the game itself. What I do dislike is the media hype she is given. Personally I do not feel she deserves all the media exposure she gets based on her record in comparison to all the other drivers. Now that statement says nothing about her, but does condemn the media for exploiting who she is .... period.

Now as far as 50 races to get the first win in comparison to NASCAR drivers. Poor analogy. NASCAR does 36 points races per year and another three that many are in. Counting just the 36 as a year and then comparing her record of 4 years to get the first win ... along with mega media exposure, I once again see her as over hyped by the media. I am very happy that she has scored high on her finishes but as I've said many times over 2nd place is just the first loser and never remembered for ending up there. Yes it is a good stat and I believe in stats to a large degree. That is all we have to compare. Lastly I don't believe you can compare stats from NASCAR to those of Indy/IRL. Two different beasts.

Loco, many of those drivers you listed may never win a race. I never used them as comparisons and wouldn't.

JPM is yet another classic example for me of an over hyped (by the media) driver. He came to NASCAR with all the promise of bring the next crossover driver to tame NASCAR. Simon can verify that I didn't accept the hype then and still find him to be less than great. Granted it is only my opinion. Maybe my standards for fame are higher than that of the media. I'm not selling a newspaper so I can go by personal standards.

I have no personal hate for any driver but I will never accept media driven fame. I don't need to be sold a bill of goods wrapped up in a bikini to be convinced of ability to drive a car.

For the record again, I find exposure by the media in the form of seductive poses and skimpy clothing a waste of my time. As Tom Cruise once said in a famous movie ... "Show me the money". In my case show me the talent and that will prove your case. If you don't have talent you don't have much time left under the fame spotlight.

Danica is a good driver. No athlete makes it to the top of the game without a certain amount of talent. In NASCAR even th e43rd place driver has talent ... it's just a matter of how much and how much media exposure you can get.
