Re: Andretti: Greatest Racing Family Ever

What about the France family? Where would all these others be if it were not fot France ? They might not have been driving motors but they were the driving force behind racing ...unfortnately what some see it today...yeah I'm one of them. I would have paid $150 to see them race on the beach!!!! aheeem...rain or shine

Re: Andretti: Greatest Racing Family Ever

TN_Gal

just to give you an idea of the history of open wheel and European racing

"The first organized event was actually a Reliability Trial run from Paris to Rouen in 1894 over a distance of 126 km. It was organized by a newspaper, Le Petite Journal, and the winning "horseless carriage" had to be "safe, easily controllable and reasonably economical to run." Twenty one entries left Paris on July 22nd, and the first home was Count de Dion in a steam driven De Dion tractor. "

Bill France was born in 1909, so racing was well established when he came along

and with open wheel it is much more about the car makers then the governing body like in NASCAR

Honda, Ferrari and some others would find a way to race if not in CART and Formula 1

and to most people outside America and many in it Formula 1 is the top of the racing world

Four-time Champ Car National Champion (1965, 1966, 1969, 1984)
Formula One World Champion (197
Daytona 500 winner (1967)
Indy 500 winner (1969)
Three-time Indy 500 pole winner (1966, 1967, 1987)
Three-time 12 Hours of Sebring winner (1967, 1970, 1972)
USAC National Dirt Track champion (1974)

I got to meet Michael in Nazareth for an IRL race, I had pit passes, I wasn't able to get his autograph, but I was able to get a smile and wave from him, as they were getting the car ready. But, I did manage to get Mario to sign my Andretti racing hat, as he was out at the trailer signing with Marco! It was such a mad chaos, that I wasn't able to get to Marco! One day, it too, will be complete with those two, Marco and Michael.

Re: Andretti: Greatest Racing Family Ever

I've always liked Mario Andretti. I don't follow open wheel racing, but for some reason I always rooted for him to win the Indy 500. Now that he's retired and Michael is racing in this years Indy 500, I'll once again be rooting for an Andretti. Hopefully Michael can finally get to drink the milk in victory lane as a driver!

Hey, Indynascar, maybe we should have a contest about who will win the 500! I have no idea who's running but that would be fun! Lilsexy08 has gotten me to use these exclamation points! I'm copying her! Hey, that's just like Marky Mark did copying Rusty's Last Call! Naming his last year! But it wasn't his last year! So he needs to give back that rocking chair he got!

Very funny Smoke! LOL! You can copy me anytime! Mark is having an attitude since last year because he didn't win the championship, but I will give him this he is doing wonderful in truck series and not bad in Cup as well. You go Marky Mark with your short self! LOL!
