| Cotman on board as vice president of competition Tony Cotman hit the ground running as vice president of competition for the Indy Racing League, but over a half cup of coffee he allowed time to relate his short- and long-term goals – for himself and the IndyCar Series and Indy Pro Series. His vision and passion are synonymous. Cotman will assist Brian Barnhart, president of the competition and operations divisions of the sanctioning body, in Race Control for all IndyCar Series events and act as the senior race official for all Indy Pro Series events. "I'm a big dreamer, and you put the right group together and pull in a common direction we'll be fine," Cotman said. "In the long term, obviously the goal is to have a successful open-wheel racing series. I believe like many others that we'll end up one dominant or unified series over the next few years. And I know where I want to be." From 2005-07, Cotman served as vice president of operations and executive vice president for the Champ Car World Series, where he oversaw the introduction of a new chassis, wrote and enforced the competition and technical rules, and held the role of race director. more...
