MEP customers have scored victories throughout the Upper Midwest and the Southeastern part of the country, two of the biggest hotbeds of Super Late Model racing. Still, the highly-competitive Super Late Model market of central to southern Florida remained the final piece to the MEP success puzzle. Now, McGunegill Engine Performance of Muncie, Indiana has teamed up with Racecar Engineering of Lakeland, Florida to conquer the Sunshine State’s short track scene. Racecar Engineering has become a stocking dealer of MEP products, including the Ford 425 Sealed Engine and the Ford and GM Equalizer Sealed Engine packages. MEP has always been strong in the Panhandle of Florida, but now this partnership gives Super Late Model racers in the Sunshine State a local resource to the most proven and economical power in the short track market today. “We are excited to have Racecar Engineering represent us in the state of Florida,” said DeWaine McGunegill of MEP. “The Ford 425 is an engine that is legal in all kinds of Super Late Model series’ including PASS South, GAS, ASA and more. And since they will also sell the Equalizer engine, Florida racers will have two great engines to choose from. We’ve been busy building and shipping these engines up here, so it will be a big advantage to our racers to have these engines in stock down in Florida for our racers in that part of the country.” MEP power brought customers to victory lane in some of the country’s most prestigious races in recent years, including the Snowball Derby, the All American 400 and the Winchester 400. Their customers have won races and championships in the CRA Super Series, PASS South, Georgia Asphalt Series and the ASA Late Model Tours. Now with a presence in the state of Florida, MEP looks to position itself as a contender in the tough Florida SLM series. ![]() MEP helped top short trackers succeed in 2007, now racers in Florida have a local hookup for MEP engines & more. “Florida is one of the hotbeds of Super Late Model racing,” added McGunegill. “It’s almost a different world from us up here in Indiana. We have a few engines down there already and they’ve run well. Our phones have been ringing constantly from people down in Florida and all around the country with people wanting information on our engines. Now, with a presence in Florida, we can accommodate everyone quickly to get them out on the track.” Racecar Engineering, already an established and reputable dealer of racecars and parts in Florida, now will be able to bring McGunegill power to the growing MEP customer base in the Sunshine State. more...
