| Todt speaks out as the new year begins
Former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt began the new year stating he would attend a few Formula One races this coming season but not in an official team capacity; he also added comments on a variety of topics including Renault's newly signed driver Fernando Alonso and the seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher.
When Todt decided to leave Scuderia Ferrari to take on the position of Ferrari CEO, he felt that Schumacher would be the ideal candidate for his old Sporting Director position. Schumacher turned down the offer believing he could not give it his full attention. Instead, he will remain as a special advisor to the team under the direction of the new Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali.
