Saldana & Dollansky Run Strong in New Zealand

Saldana & Dollansky Run Strong in New Zealand

Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky both overcame adversity on Saturday night to register strong runs at Palmerston North Speedway in New Zealand, as part of the International Sprint Car season.

After having trouble in their respective heat races, which required extensive repairs by their Salter Motorsports crew, the pair of Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series stars charged through the field in the 30-lap A-Feature.

Saldana lined up 14th and weaved his way through the field that included heavy lapped traffic to come home in third. Dollansky lined up 17th for the main event and powered his way to a fourth-place finish.

The final lap of the race saw Dollansky, who was running third try to take the second position from Greg Pickerill, opening the door for Saldana to take the third spot exiting the fourth turn as the checkered flag waved.
Saldana and Dollansky thrilled the large crowd in attendance as they charged through the field without the aid of too many cautions, in the event which was won by Peter Huijs

In preliminary action, Dollansky had trouble in the first heat race, getting upside down, though he recovered to finish second in the fourth heat and then won the B-Main. Saldana likewise had trouble in the second heat, as he got into the wall, damaging the right side of his machine. He came back win the fourth heat and was fourth in the B-Main to race his way into the A-Feature.

The pair will returns to action on Wednesday, December 26 at Springs Speedway in Western Springs New Zealand, for twin $20,000-to win features. The first of which of which was rained out on December 9, and will see Dollansky will start on the pole position for the 30-lap contest.
