John Force, the 14-time NHRA Funny Car champion seriously injured Sept. 23 at the Texas Motorplex, is on schedule to get back behind the wheel for the 2008 season. Physical therapist Robert Ortmayer, who has been working with Force since his return to his Yorba Linda home, made the assessment on Wednesday, a day after Force was cleared Tuesday to start light strength training with the left hand and left foot. Force suffered a compound fracture of the left ankle, a dislocation of the left wrist, broken bones in the right foot and hand, a severe laceration of the right knee with ligament and tendon damage and mangled fingers and toes involving significant tissue loss. -- Inland Valley Daily Bulletin

I guess the only question now is how much John wants to get back in the seat.

He's never been a quitter so he'll follow thru with the therapy and will even run a race or two.

It'll be interesting to see how much farther he will take it.
