Colt James Leads 2007 ASA LMS Most Popular Driver Award Contest

Lexington, Michigan (12/10/2007): The ASA Late Model Series Most Popular Driver Award contest has hit the halfway point with Five (5) drivers now eliminated and Five drivers are left in one of the most exciting off season contests in ASALMS history.

Almost 2,000,000 votes were cast in the last week just for the leader alone! Within the Top Five in the voting, the driver who was almost eliminated still received over 750,000 votes! The nominees have been cut down to Five (5) drivers as the great fans of the ASALMS continue to rally themselves around their favorite drivers and keep them in the running.

In the "American Idol" style voting, the latest "cast off" is 2007 ASA Late Model Series Northern Division Rookie of the Year, Jesse Saunders! For the fourth week in a row, Colt James was once again the leading vote getter!

Five (5) drivers remain and the votes have all been reset to Zero. Here are the remaining nominees: 170 Jeff Choquette, 8 Eddie Hoffman, 015 Colt James, 41 Brandon Johnson, and 88 Trent Snyder.

There's still plenty of time to vote! Simply vote for your favorite driver and the driver who receives the most votes from our great fans of the ASALMS will be honored as the 2007 ASALMS Most Popular Driver at the ASALMS Awards Banquet and Weekend of Champions on Saturday January 19, 2008 at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Colt's dad and my son raced against each other on the local tracks back in the early '90's. Colt also competed in a few seasons of the local SLM series before taking a job in Mooresville .. with Robert Yates Racing. For a couple years he'd fly back to Austin for races then back to NC to work. He's a likeable kid and a good racer.

AND he's been making a name for himself in ASALMS!
