| GT2 team Tafel Racing switches to Ferrari Motorsport.com: News channel ![]() The Ferrari F-430 that Tafel Racing will run in the GT2 class in the 2008 season of the American Le Mans Series. Photo by Tafel Racing. Coming off the heels of their first season competing in the American Le Mans Series, Tafel Racing announced today that they will switch manufacturers and campaign two Ferrari F-430s in 2008. Team owner expressed his reasons why, "We spent the majority of the 2007 season in the rear-view mirror of the Ferrari teams." A simple statement made by Jim Tafel sets the stage in the LMGT2 class that once was dominated by Porsche teams. Ferrari came on the scene with Risi Competizione in 2006 and closed out the season with the team championship. However, Porsche still earned the manufacturer title and one of their drivers, Jorg Bergmeister in the Petersen Motorsports/White Lightning Racing Porsche took the drivers' crown. The GT2 class is one where tight battles are consistent during the season and the bragging rights seem to always go down to the finale -- past seasons showed Porsche team versus Porsche team -- but the last two racing seasons have been Porsche teams versus Ferrari teams! A challenge that the fans of sportscar racing truly enjoyed.
