| Kenny Bernstein Retires, TJ to drive NHRA News: Bernstein names Johnson Jr. to drive Monster Energy entry in 2008 (12/4/2007) Woooo hoooooooooo. I'm a big fan of Tommy Johnson Jr, and I'm glad to see him pick up a ride for 2008. It sucks the The Snake shut down the Funny Car team, and I wish TJ the best in '08! I miss racing!!! Is it February yet????? |

| Re: Kenny Bernstein Retires, TJ to drive I think TJ's gonna fit right in to the Bernstein team. Congratulations to him. I know he's gotta be pumped about it. I've always liked Kenny. One day I'd like to see him inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. I sure think he belongs there. |

| Re: Kenny Bernstein Retires, TJ to drive TJ's definitely one lucky guy .. to step from one legend's team into a bigger legend's team is quite the hat trick. makes me wonder, though, how much Kenny's involvement in John Force's wreck got him thinking and helped him make the decision to step down?

I don't think KB would ever let on if that accident had anything to do with his stepping out of the car. |

| Drag racing legend Bernstein has re-retired Drag racing legend Kenny Bernstein has re-retired as a driver and put Tommy Johnson Jr. in the cockpit of his Funny Car. Johnson became available at the end of the 2007 season when Don Prudhomme dropped his Funny Car program for the lack of a sponsor. "I was contemplating driving one more year," said Bernstein. "But when Tommy became available, we started to give the situation a lot of thought. For me at this stage of life, the right decision was to step away from the cockpit." -- San Diego Union-Tribune Pit Passes: Bernstein retiring as driver | The San Diego Union-Tribune |
