HILLIARD, Ohio (December 3, 2007) -- Ripping up a ribbon of asphalt at 230 mph, an open-wheel race car is not only a blur of speed, it is a marvel of science and technology.


Built to exacting specifications and so finely tuned that an adjustment of an inch can make the difference between going fast and finishing last, open-wheel race cars are very nearly more airplane than they are race machine.


So it was only fitting that Hilliard, Ohio-based Rahal Letterman Racing use one of its race-tested open-wheel machines to educate thousands of youngsters about the science of speed. Thanks to a new partnership between RLR and COSI Columbus, children and their families can discover first-hand how science builds speed in today's racing world.
