| Red Bull rules out Alonso for 2008 Since splitting with McLaren at the end of the season Fernando Alonso has yet to reveal where he might race in 2008, but it seems the rumoured deal with Red Bull is just another myth. The double-champion has been linked with the energy drink manufacturer team but owner Dietrich Mateschitz said the agreement Alonso was allegedly looking for would not suit Red Bull. "From what I hear, Alonso is negotiating with other teams about a one year only deal," Mateschitz told Motorsport Aktuell. "That kind of deal is out of question for us. We would prefer to wait a year and prove that we can build a car which is capable of attracting one of the best Grand Prix drivers for 2009." Motorsport.com: News channel

| Re: Red Bull rules out Alonso for 2008 sorry, after reading the article it appears they might be interested in Alonso IF it were for more than a year. the writer's speculation is he's shopping around for a short stay ride so he can jump to Ferrari in 2009 because he isn't sure how badly Renault is gonna get slapped down in the spying case, e.g., he's trying to hedge his bets.

| Re: Red Bull rules out Alonso for 2008 Alonso's trying for a short term commitment like Senna did with McLaren in 1993, cause the other alternative would be to take a sabbatical like Prost did in 1992. He wants to go to Ferrari. |
