| Bobby Gill Looking For Derby Victory #3 5 Flags Speedway If you look at the names that grace the starting lineups of any short track these days, it is obvious that the sport is getting younger and younger. Many fields are filled with drivers 20 years old or younger. Sometimes, they are even 14 or 15-years old. And where does that leave the veterans 45 or older? Well, most people just expect them to fade away. But one driver hasn’t faded away at all. That driver is Bobby Gill. Gill proved that he isn’t going to give into the Generation X and Y movements anytime soon by earning his fourth-career USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series National Championship this past season, and beating a 16-year-old in the process of doing it. And even when he’s not racing in the Pro Cup Series, Gill still doesn’t let the kids beat him. He proved it by crossing the line second in last year’s annual Super Late Model bash in Florida, the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. Now, Gill is planning to return to the Derby in 2007 and hopes to earn his third-career Snowball Derby victory in the 40th Annual running of the event. With the kind of year he’s already had, it might not be that difficult.

Right now I'd go with either Gill, Shane Sieg or Clay Rogers. If I can get away, I might driver over to Five Flags tomorrow and give the practice a watch. If I do I'll give you an update.
