dunno .. how fast do bones heal in old folks? I've heard "very slowly"...

John had a compound fracture of the left ankle, meaning it was a complete break and part of the bone broke through the skin. That is a very nasty break, requiring surgery to fix. Usually the recovery time is quite lengthy for anyone, let alone an "old man" like John. But I'm sure he's telling all those physical therapists at the rehab center his racing motto: "Never Give Up, Never Back Down, Never Lose Faith."
