| KISS To Play Melbourne 2008 F1 Race For our one admitted Australian Formula One fan, the Melbourne 2008 F1 race will hold a special attraction. And I’m not talking about Schumi in a McLaren or Honda. I mean really, what could be more exciting than the premiere of the Ross Brawn led Honda F1 team? Or the debut of Fernando Alonso in his return to Renault, even though they will not be racing for points? Why of course it would be a free concert by that aged over weight costumed freak show rock band Kiss. Sorry peterg, I don’t mean to suck you into a meaningless discourse over the merits of any PR move intended to help sell tickets to a race. Especially if it helps offset some of the venues losses and possibly keep the Aussie GP there. And I further suspect both our opinions on that marketing genius Gene Simmons and his single handed saving of the IRL here stateside are of a similar bent. His “I am Mindy” (spelling intentional) was the only thing to bring fans to this years Indy 500. But of all the rock bands out there, Kiss is the best they can do? What, Air Supply was otherwise occupied? I only hope Max or Bernie get wind of this before it’s too late and convince Mr. Walker to **** can the concert, in the “best interest” of the sport. P.S. If they brought in AC-DC I might even buy a ticket. After this season “Dirty deeds done dirt cheap” could be F1’s theme song. F1 News: Melbourne 2008, “Special Treat”
