You get a goal, you celebrate, you go to your bench and hit gloves, you're happy, we drop the puck. That's the way it's done.
You don't turn and smile with a Look at me I scored you guys are losers - attitude. cause if you do do that, I believe you should watch your back -because you're doing it to get to them. And he got to kostopoulos.
I'm glad kostopoulos apologized etc - but I understand why it happened.

Wow. I just can't belive that after all the talk of the Flyers cheap play this year, you are saying it is OK that he did that.

Hell, if that is OK, the Flyers should have sacrificed Ovechkin on the ice. He acted like every goal he scored was a game winner in Game 7 of the finals.

And I"m ok with that. Stop me if you can, and if not, suffer my joy!

Wow. This is going to be a long series, and I can't wait until it's over.

I'm a bit dissappointed.

I don't want any grief over cheap shots by the Flyers.

Re: Kostopolis

Ovechkin cheers with the crowd, slams the glass - I like that when the fans get noticed by the town hero - i don't remember seeing him sticking it in the opponent's eye.
I've always hated the celebrating in an arrogant or unsportsmanlike way - that's why I'll never like jagr - he used to lick his finger and post a 'one' in the air. I hated that. Absolutely hated that - wished someone would knock his block off for that.
someone else rides the air like a horse - I hate that too.
Smile and hug. Even the go to the bench and everyone smack glove sis a bit too long for me.
It's just heated right now, that's all - tempers flare - When things get heated like they do in the playoffs stuff like this happens. Or we shouldn't be surprised when it happens.
If a hab turns and does it to a Flyer tonight, i won't be surprised if he gets his bell rung.

Re: Kostopolis

And I disagree. I think Ovechkin, or any player, should celebrate with his team mates. Turning to the crowd like that is no different than the BS celebrations I see in the NFL.

Stuff like that says "look at me, I'm the best thing on the field, court, ice."

And to me. it is what is wrong with sports today. All these players, some Flyers included, are looking for a TV moment.

And I don't have any idea what MIke Rachards was doing when he scored on the penalty shot, and had that odd celebration either. Hated that too. The FIRST thing I want to see my player do is turn to the player that passed him the puck, or just made a denfensive play that allowed him to break out.

That is just as unsportsmanlike as taking a cheap shot at a player, and has no place in sports.

But I still wouldn't support a Flyer hitting him after the play. Just go get him on the next shift. There is a time and place, and even in the Flyers goon days, they did have some code!

Re: Kostopolis

I never really thought of it like that - when I've been at a game and a player turns toward us, i feel like he's saying it's our victory too, because we are the fans. It includes us in it, as it should - fans make the team, the game what it is.
So i never saw arrogance with that. The guys that do it on the leafs, like Tucker - they are huge Toronto fans themselves, have wanted to play for the Leafs their whole lives and here they are doing it, so they turn to the crowd and say That was for you.

Re: Kostopolis

I don't really know what to think about Kostopolous. My opinion is largely based on the player's overall character and he's a good guy from what I know. If I were a player losing to the Flyers and when they score, they turnaround and give me a smirk, I'm pretty sure I'd lose it too. I don't know or care too much. Just want us to win tonight although the odds are stacked against us.

Re: Kostopolis

Well, this is getting off topic.

What truly irks me about this is the fact that the Flyers have been called out all year for dirty play, and this guy takes a cheap shot at our player, and it's OK.

I don't like the celebrations at all. If you think a player should just go to the bench and be done, then the turn to the crowd is no different than turning around and making a comment. It still incites the other team.

BTW, was it OK for him to go after him again during the post game celebration. Congratulating your goalie is a tradition as well. I thought that was pretty poor as well.

I agree with this. I used to call Flyers a dirty team, but that was when they were. They stopped that a while ago. But the thing is, if you flash a smirk at someone, you flip them off. You don't skate bye and punch the guy and take it out on him because you're mad.
