Re: Kostopolis

no worries, it was a dumb play but he apologized publicly. Kostopolous is a pretty honest guy. When are you going to start cheering for the habs?

Re: Kostopolis

Well I don't want to cheer for them. No hard feelings, but I hate the Habs.

Re: Kostopolis

see, the potential is there for me to hate the Habs - I'm a leafs fan, their close proximity to us, they're doing better - but I can never hate them - i always find them to be a classy bunch, led by the classiest (next to Sundin) - Koivu.
Yeah it's a little rougher out there right now - it's the playoffs. But I've always felt montreal is a hold-their-heads-high kind of team. nothing to be ashamed about.

Re: Kostopolis

yeah, i see what you are saying. You can say it. You can say you hate Montreal. I'm the same way ya know? I just had an argument with a leafs fan at work. I said Tucker and Corson were not saints and he said they both played with the habs. I think we should team up and go with montreal. I know you have been already doing that but lets keep it up. We HAVE to beat the flyers!

Re: Kostopolis

We are resorting to using lower case plain black letters to combat your bright orange
Lets GO Flyers!
Using all the weapons at our disposal. Take that.
It's gloves off now.
And Glenn, re your Buffalo insult - I thought it made perfect sense.

Re: Kostopolis

Okay not to get back in the muck of things, but I was reading this morning about the Kostopoulos thing and I watched it again on youtube.
I will admit, yes I'm gunning for the Habs - but come on - was it really necessary to make such a big thing out of this Kostopoulos punch? Timonen apparently was razzing the teammates, and turned to smile at all the Habs that were on the ice during the goal - you want to take that kind of attitude on? then watch out for the flying punches I say. Same to any Hab who bothers to do it to the Flyers.
Carbonneau has come out and said Timonen deserved it - I love that. but he's also telling his team, don't let them get under your skin.
see it works both ways - I think Kostopoulos should have given Timonen a nudge yeah - but Timonen was successful at getting under Kostopoulos's skin.
I think both teams came out with a little edge after that.

Re: Kostopolis

I know and I'm going to get a lot of flack for this - it just seems like this cup run has seen a lot of unsportsmanlike activity - see: Avery - and I know, punching someone in the face after they scored seems the worst. but he didn't punch him because he scored, he punched Timonen because Timonen was acting like a jerk.
You get a goal, you celebrate, you go to your bench and hit gloves, you're happy, we drop the puck. That's the way it's done.
You don't turn and smile with a Look at me I scored you guys are losers - attitude. cause if you do do that, I believe you should watch your back -because you're doing it to get to them. And he got to kostopoulos.
I'm glad kostopoulos apologized etc - but I understand why it happened.

Re: Kostopolis

They were celebrating for about 10 seconds, broke it up, and he hit him. No excuse, even if he did smile back. So if you were doing something, such as a contest, and the other guy won and he smiled at you, would you punch him?
If it's against the rules there is not one excuse to do it. Even if he did smile for it you don't do that or you get suspended. He got off lucky cause the NHL owners don't care.

Re: Kostopolis

What shocked me is that Montreal isn't that kind of team. They are tough when they need to be, but I didn't think that would happen.

Re: Kostopolis

of course it's not "in the rules". if it was, Avery'd be a bartender by now.
and don't be naive - he wasn't just howdy doody-ing, man I'm so happy I got a goal, aren't you happy for me too kostopoulos? smiling warm fuzzies all round.
And the fact that Montreal isn't that kind of team is a good point - you get pushed enough, it comes out.
