LUBBOCK, Texas | Missouri assistant coach Bruce Walker knocked down speculation Wednesday that he might leave his position as MU’s tight ends coach, even though he didn’t get the Central Washington head coaching job for which he recently interviewed.

“I’m going to be back,” Walker assured.

That means coach Gary Pinkel’s entire coaching staff will return for an eighth season.


•On the recruiting trail for 2008, Missouri earned a split in getting an oral commitment from one of two highly sought defensive players. Zavier Gooden, a Pflugerville safety rated No. 56 on Rivals.com’s Texas Top 100 list, told PowerMizzou.com that he committed to MU.

After doing so, Gooden canceled a scheduled visit to Oklahoma, which was thought to be Mizzou’s main competition.
