Last fall’s visit to Austin, Texas, produced minimal highlights for the Missouri football team. Gored by top-ranked Texas 56-31, the Tigers fell behind by five touchdowns before Bevo finished gnashing his first batch of cud.

But the mention of an otherwise forgettable fourth-quarter sequence brings back golden memories for Austin Wuebbels.
Then a redshirt freshman backup offensive lineman, Wuebbels was rushed into the lineup in the second quarter when right tackle Colin Brown suffered a concussion. Late in the game, Wuebbels delivered a crushing block on Texas All-American defensive end Brian Orakpo, a blast that later earned Wuebbels the team’s Hammer Award for the biggest hit of the week.“I didn’t even get a chance to get nervous,” Wuebbels said yesterday. “I just went in there … and it was awesome.”
