| Scrimmage shows Croom ample positives STARKVILLE — The usual day-after video review of Saturday's scrimmage gave Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom reason to like what he saw more, he said Monday. Croom praised his wide receivers, his offensive line, his defense's pursuit and tackling, and the way his offense moved the ball, despite only managing one touchdown. "There were a lot of good things in it," he said. "Again, I'm looking for more out of this football team. We have some ability, we are fast, but I still think - it's just a gut feeling - that we've got to push a little harder with this group. I think every team's different, but we're going to demand more out of this group. And I expect to get it. And I'm going to find out who's willing to give it." State is implementing the rest of its schemes in preparation for Saturday's scrimmage, which will be closed to the public and the media. That scrimmage will go a long way in determining which true freshmen might contribute this season, Croom said. Story
