| WR McRae looks for breakout year at MSU STARKVILLE — Used to, when his coach would tease him about his all-world play in practice and his all-nowhere play in games, Brandon McRae would laugh it off. Now, he just gets mad. And that's exactly what Sylvester Croom wanted to see in McRae, a junior wide receiver for his Mississippi State football team who just never made the jump from the practice fields to Scott Field last season, his first of eligibility after transferring from Morehead (Ky.) State. "He's got a fire in his eyes now," Croom said. "And he's got a different look in his eyes. And he's performed well." McRae and his teammates are in the heat, quite literally, of involuntary workouts and conditioning in preparation for State's Aug. 30 season opener at Louisiana Tech.
