| MSU loses defensive coordinator to Ark. Mississippi State's just-completed breakthrough football season was defined by a hard-hitting defense that had a knack for the game-changing play. But the man who led that group won't be back with the Bulldogs next season. The day after MSU beat Central Florida 10-3 in the Liberty Bowl to cap an 8-5 season, defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson was hired by new Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino, according to MSU coach Sylvester Croom. "Defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson informed me yesterday morning that he had accepted a similar position at the University of Arkansas," Croom said in a statement e-mailed Monday by the MSU media relations department. "We feel that we have done everything possible to keep Ellis here, but he indicated to me that his decision was in his family's best interest. Ellis has been a big part of our success and we wish him well in the future, but we will move quickly to hire a replacement." Full Story
