| Croom promises bowl trip will be fun for Bulldogs STARKVILLE — In his four seasons as coach at Mississippi State, Sylvester Croom has brought plenty of principles from his former head coach, Alabama's legendary Paul "Bear" Bryant. There's the emphasis on character and hard work. The run-first, play-good-defense approach. The trademark physical play. But there's one thing that Croom won't be borrowing from Bryant over the next few weeks: miserable bowl practices. "This is one area I always differ with my former head coach in college," Croom said. "The four bowl games I went to in college were miserable. We're going to make this one fun for our players." Croom's Bulldogs, at 7-5 after Friday's Egg Bowl win over Ole Miss, are assured a berth in one of the Southeastern Conference- affiliated bowls.
