STARKVILLE — Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom wants one thing clear to his team's seniors: It's now or never for your Egg Bowl legacy.
"No matter how many you've won or lost before that one, the last one is the one you live with," Croom said. "That's the one you remember the most. That's the one you're most identified with. This senior class, what happens Friday, this will be stamped in their minds and this class will be identified by this game for the rest of their lives."
This senior class is 1-2 against Ole Miss, winning in 2005 but losing in '04 and '06.
Croom would know about that senior legacy in rivalry games. As an Alabama senior in 1974, Croom's Crimson Tide beat Auburn 17-13 at Birmingham's Legion Field.
Croom finished his career 2-1 against Auburn, the loss coming in the 17-16 "Punt, Bama, Punt" game in 1972.
