| Croom 'Crooming' use of 'Croomed' STARKVILLE — Don't turn Mississippi State coach Sylvester Croom's last name into a past-tense verb in his presence. "That's not one of my favorite deals," Croom said Monday. 'Croomed', of course, refers to when opposing coaches get fired shortly after losing to Croom's team. It began when State's win over Florida in 2004 "Croomed" Ron Zook and got new life last season when State's win over Alabama "Croomed" Mike Shula. But what about Nick Saban, Tommy Tuberville and Rich Brooks, who lost to Croom this year but probably aren't getting fired.
