STARKVILLE — At his Tuesday news conference, Mississippi State football coach Sylvester Croom was hit with the same thought that most of his team's fans are saying, just in question form.
The query boiled down to this: Will an off week for Mississippi State, coupled with Alabama coming off a physically draining loss to LSU, mean the time is right for a big Bulldog win?
Croom paused.
"Well, that'll be interesting," Croom said. "I think the big factor in this game as far as that goes is who goes out there and hits the hardest and doesn't turn the football over. I think all this other stuff is - on gameday, all these other things, I don't put a lot into that."So heading into Saturday's game against No. 21 Alabama (6-3, 4-2 SEC) at Scott Field, know that Croom is at least on record as saying the timing of the game on each team's schedule will have little to do with the outcome.
